HighPointe Academy: Higher Education for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
HighPointe continues to expand its range of services to meet the unique needs of our wonderful clients.
To that end, the new HighPointe Academy was launched in September 2016. The Academy offers an integrated set of programs designed to facilitate growth and daily living skills, prepare for vocational opportunities, and assist in supporting residential placements.
The Academy faculty places high expectations on each of the participants and will help each participant to be successful. The Academy utilizes competency-based training methods and will require each participant to meet enrollment standards prior to admission. Our curriculum is focused not only on basic living skills, but also guides each participant to gain the ability to be flexible and prepared to interact in a fast-moving and complex community.
HighPointe Academy was created to serve individuals in their 20s to deliver the type of education, training and transition skills that enable them to Pursue Personal Growth. In addition to educational aspects, the HighPointe Academy experience also includes social opportunities, training in personal finances, sports and fitness activities, community interaction, internships, and employment assistance. Working together with the client, the family and the Academy faculty, each plan is implemented over a 12-month period.
